Tentoonstelling: Huis Marseille<\/a>

Dit project betrof een grote tentoonstelling, in beide panden van Huis Marseille, van\u00a0Regarding Nature<\/em>\u00a0een serie foto’s die de Franse fotograaf Chrystel Lebas in opdracht van het Natural History Museum<\/a> in Londen had gemaakt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lebas was gevraagd om nieuw werk te maken rondom een tot dan toe anonieme collectie glasnegatieven van het Britse landschap uit het begin van 20e eeuw. Dit leverde niet alleen nieuw werk op maar ook de naam van de fotograaf: Sir Edward James Salisbury (1886-1978), een bekende Britse botanist en ecoloog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In de tentoonstelling<\/a> hadden we de foto’s en films van Chrystel Lebas gecombineerd met nieuwe, door Chrystel gemaakte afdrukken van Salisbury’s negatieven en een selectie van documenten en foto’s uit Salisbury’s persoonlijke archief dat in de Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew wordt bewaard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ook maakte Chrystel Lebas voor de tentoonstelling een serie foto’s op Ameland, dat net als de Britse landschappen die zij fotografeerde, al eeuwenlang onder invloed van klimaat en mens verandert of dreigt te veranderen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition presented the result of a special commission<\/a> Chrystel Lebas received from the Natural History Museum in London in 2011. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lebas created new works based on an intriguing collection of anonymous glass negatives of the British landscape at the early 20th century. The project did not only produce a number of new works, but also the name of the photographer: the famous British botanist and ecologist Sir Edward James Salisbury (1886\u20131978). The exhibition also included objects from Salisbury;s personal archive in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
