De juryrapporten werden ge\u00efllustreerd met foto&#8217;s, op dat moment \u00e9\u00e9n van de modernste illustratietechnieken. Dat terwijl de fotografie toen pas twaalf jaar oud was en nog lang niet had bewezen een volwaardige illustratietechniek naast de houtgravure of de lithografie te kunnen zijn. In totaal moesten er voor alle sets 20.000 foto\u2019s met de hand worden afgedrukt, opgeplakt en ingestoken, een ongekend massale operatie voor die tijd.
